Restaurant Review: Orión 39, Las Palmas

Today we decided to try a new restaurant in Las Palmas called Orión 39. They describe themselves as a Tex-Mex restaurant and cocktail bar.

We started with Alitas de pollo curujiente, con sus tres salsas. (Chicken wings with three sauces) The three house sauces are Limón y Ajo, Magica and Chipotle, the second being quite spicy and the Chipotle, very spicy.

Alitas de Pollo Crujiente.

To accompany the wings, we also ordered a half portion of nachos.

Nachos

The wings were delicious, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside and the sauces were delicious, especially the Chipotle one.

We only ordered a half portion of the nachos and it was a good job, the portion was huge, the nachos are served with chilli con carne, cheese sauce and lots of home made guacamole and are absolutely delicious.

For the main course we chose Burger a la barbacoa and a Fajita de pollo. The burger was cooked perfectly and served in a delicious seeded bun with a good amount of barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese. The Fajita was seasoned well, the chicken tender and the vegetables crisp. We didn't order any extras to go with our meals as the starter was so big.

We had no room for dessert so we can't report on that but we had a good look around the restaurant and it's themed areas are a lovely place to have a meal with friends or something intimate.

The well stocked bar had a wonderful selection of gins and vodkas and they organise live entertainment at weekends.

The meals are well priced and excellent service, the waiter was very helpful and took our drink orders, then gave us time to read the menu before taking our food order, a trick some waiters in other restaurants could learn.

Overall it is a great place to enjoy Tex-Mex food and The Red Canaries will definitely be going again when they have live music.
