Pet Friendly Hotels, Gran Canaria (Oasis Playa Maspalomas)

Last weekend, we decided to go to Maspalomas and stay in a complex as part of our series reviewing pet friendly hotels in Gran Canaria.

The first hotel we came across on the internet was Oasis Playa Maspalomas.

We had a bit of confusion when we arrived as there were no signs on the door to tell us that reception was located within another complex, but after a phone call, this was remedied and we picked up our key cards from a very friendly receptionist.

Only 200 metres from Maspalomas beach, the 1 bedroom apartments have a kitchen/diner/living room, fully equipped with a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge. We were staying in room 10 and the views from every window were of the ocean. A lovely view to wake up to and to watch the sunset at night.

Bimba, our dog, was very happy when we arrived, she enjoyed the views from the terrace, watching the world go by and exploring the local area.

We arrived on Friday night and spent the evening relaxing with a glass of tinto de verano and some tapas.

The next morning we needed some supplies and went along to the supermarket located next to reception, it was well stocked with products for different nationalities and fresh fruit and vegetables, it wasn’t very expensive either.

We spent the day around the small pool, (obviously pets not allowed in this area) but Bimba had a bird's eye view of us from the apartment so she was content. The water jets and waterfall features didn’t seem to function while we were there but it was just nice to be able to use the pool to cool off. The pool was in a raised area and furnished with very comfortable sun-beds.

The cost per night was approximately 60€ and for me this was good value, the apartment being well equipped and the incredible views. The beds were not very comfortable but as we were only staying for two nights, this wasn’t a problem.

Would we recommend Oasis Playa Maspalomas? yes totally. It was great for a short break and being able to bring Bimba was a real bonus.

Upsides: Ocean views, pool, location

Downsides: Shuttle bus traffic, lack of signs on arrival
